TS12 Quilt-Along: Lover Block #5

Woo! It's the start of a new era! It's all still fresh but I'm curious to find out which tracks will be fan favourites, radio hits and which will get their own music videos. I am not going to the theatres but if you do, I hope you sing and dance and learn a bunch of fun facts about the behind the scenes of the album.

This week i am NOT doing the life of a showgirl because I needed more time to unpack the themes and visuals to design a block. Today's block is Lover! To celebrate our parasocial bestie getting engaged and the new music she wrote while she was falling in love.

I just got this fabric in the shop from the Golden Hour collection by Jill Labieniec. It's called Sky in Coral and the clouds are so reminiscent of the cotton candy dreamy backdrop to the Lover album art - I had to use it!

I thought a lot about lyrics and symbolism and at the end of all that, I was reminded of shiny things and paper rings. Hence the Lover Ring Block! It's raw edge applique so it works up really quick, requires only two or three fabrics, some scraps for stuffing and two template pieces. You can use fusible interfacing but it is optional, and maybe some gold thread from the Folklore Mirrorball block to tie the pieces together!

Have a great album release weekend! See ya soon!
